At the post offices, cleaning is carried out with an increased use of disinfectants. The customer areas are cleaned several times a day with disinfectants during opening hours, especially door handles, customer counters and other common areas.

Magyar Posta has been continuously informing its employees about the most important information regarding the epidemic risk and prevention since the first communication of the outbreak in the news. The company provides hand sanitisers for the delivery personnel, as well as for employees working at the post offices, logistics plants, large office buildings and other postal facilities. The company executives ask employees to inform their immediate supervisor if they have been to an infected area or have been in contact with an infected person.

In early March, Magyar Posta made a decision to postpone or cancel its larger events. The employees also cancelled or postponed official travel abroad, as well as professional programmes.

Magyar Posta Zrt. has a Pandemic Action Plan following the guidelines developed by the National Public Health Centre. The company has been operating an Emergency Management Committee since the end of February, through which they ensure continuous preparation.

In the case of mail items arriving from infected areas, we consider the statement of the Chief Medical Officer to be applicable, according to which "the virus reproduces only in living cells, therefore parcels arriving for example from China, are completely safe”, so no measures other than basic hygiene standards are justified.
